The VectorLinux version aimed at small businesses has finally been updated to match the latest release of the regular distro. VectorLinux SOHO 6.0 brings all of the features included in the regular release, but comes with mostly newer packages. It also packs software useful for small office or home office offerings. “
The VectorLinux development crew is proud to announce the final release of VL-6.0-SOHO. The SOHO project is VectorLinux for the small office or home office (thus SOHO) as such is larger than our other releases,” Robert Lange said in the
official announcement on the VectorLinux forums.
“
The GUI installer first introduced in the VL standard 6.0 release has seen further refinements and is the default installer,” he explained.
“
Support has been added for a wider range of graphic chipsets and both lilo and grub2 bootloaders are available. Importing user accounts from previous installs is now possible provided a separate home partition is used,” the announcement also read.
VectorLinux SOHO 6.0 is based on the somewhat recent KDE SC 4.4.2. The KDE team has just released a major update with
KDE SC 4.5.0 which comes with quite a few new features and changes.
Users have a choice between several browsers, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Mozilla SeaMonkey. The developers say all of the browsers are at they’re latest versions.
