VectorLinux 7.1 RC, a fast, lightweight, and easy to use Linux distribution, has been released and is now available for download.

The VectorLinux releases are few and far between, but the developers are trying to stay current with the updates and the packages included in the distribution.

“We include Xfce4, the GIMP, Firefox, cups, exaile, popular multimedia plugins, and many other programs to maximize the desktop experience. Also new is an update to our very own installer, this was written from scratch and is a major improvement from previous installers. This is a RC release so final is soon to follow after initial peer testing,” notes the developer in the official announcement.

There is very little information about VectorLinux 7.1 RC, but we do know that it's compatible with Slackware 14.1 packages and repositories. It also uses GRUB 2.0 and Linux kernel 3.12.16. Keep in mind that this is not a Live CD, which means that you will have to install it in order to test it.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. Download VectorLinux 7.1 RC right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
