VectorLinux 7.0 was officially announced two days ago, on November 27th, and it is distributed as a Live CD image and Installable only CD.

VectorLinux 7.0 brings an updated and lightweight Xfce 4.8 desktop environment, with the Thunar file manager supporting SMB, FTP and SFTP protocols.

VectorLinux 7.0 is powered by Linux Kernel 3.0.8 and includes packages such as X.Org 7.4, Xorg Server 1.9.5, Mesa 7.10.2, Glibc 2.13, GCC 4.5.2, Make 3.8.2, Bash 4.1.010, GTK+ 2.24.1, Qt 4.7.0, Udev 165, Perl 5.12.3, Python 2.7.2, Sed 4.2.1, or Lua 5.1.4.

Dubbed GG, VectorLinux 7.0 was in development two long years and the official repositories now include over a thousand packages. It offers top-rated applications such as Pidgin, K3b, MPlayer, Opera and Firefox, The GIMP and Exaile.
