The development team at Danger Close and publisher Electronic Arts have offered some more information on the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the first-person shooter that the two companies plan to launch during the fall of this year.

The developers say that they plan to offer missions spanning the entire world and based on real-world events but that offer a more dramatic take on the actions of the Special Force involved.

The virtual Tier One Operators will be able to go to the Philippines, one of the quieter fronts of the War on Terror, in order to fight local groups and save hostages before moving on to the coast of Somalia, the most lawless area of Africa, where they will be able to stop pirates from their grim business.

The developers say that the game is actually written by United States Tier One Operators “while deployed overseas” and will deliver an “aggressive, gritty and authentic experience that puts gamers in the boots of the world’s most precise and disciplined warriors.”

The main character of Warfighter will be Preacher, who was also seen in the first game of the rebooted series, and the game will try to inject some emotion into the first-person shooter by showing how he has to deal with the return home after a tough tour of duty.

The developers at Danger Close will be working with a new version of the Frostbite 2 engine from DICE, which offers destructible terrain and complex physics, and the story of the game will be built around PETN, a type of explosive that can be used in terror attacks.

The Limited Edition of Medal of Honor: Warfighter is already available for pre-order and gamers who get it will be able to unlock the United States Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper on launch day, which is the equivalent of about 40 hours of playing the game.
