SEGA has revealed that a demo of the highly anticipated cover based third person shooter Vanquish will arrive on both the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace at the end of August and the beginning of September.

Vanquish, Shinji Mikami's latest brain-child, is a game that means to revolutionize the cover based shooter genre by infusing it with lightning speed.

The player will not be moving slowly from cover to cover, but will have to think fast, use the armor's abilities to defeat the relentless enemies.

Mikami and his studio, Platinum Games, have created the critically acclaimed Bayonetta, another title that brought a slew of new ideas in the genre made famous by the Devil May Cry series.

The Vanquish demo will be released in North America on the 31st of August, in Europe on the 1st of September and in Australia on the 2nd of Septmeber.

It is entitled Velocity Attack and allows gamers to try out the title either on Casual or Normal difficulty. They will get to fill in the shoes of Sam, a U.S. agent that uses the ARS battle suit, as he fights with other Russian soldiers on a huge space station for the remaining energy resources of the Earth.

The area of the game that will be featured in the demo revolves around enemy dropships landing at the third port lobby of the space station to haul in robot soldiers. It will also contain a boss battle against someone called Argus.

This small glimpse in the world of Vanquish will allow players to also experience hijacking powerful Walker suits, as well as using the Boost and AR mode of Sam's strong armor.

Vanquish has been in development for over four years and will finally see released on the 19th of October in North America, 21st of October in Australia and 22nd of October in Europe on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
