It’s hard to imagine that Vanessa Hudgens was once addicted to junk food, especially judging by her insanely toned tummy on the cover of Shape magazine, yet this was the case back in 2007, she says for the publication.

Back in the day when she was still working on the insanely successful Disney franchise “High School Musical,” Vanessa had very unhealthy eating habits, she reveals.

It wasn’t without effort that she managed to kick them and change her lifestyle for the better, but Hudgens still shudders at the thought of the things she used to put in her body.

“I was so unhealthy. I used to go to Cold Stone Creamery, get a tub of Butterfinger ice cream and eat it all before bedtime. And my fingers were permanently stained orange from Cheetos,” she says.

As expected, this was noticeable whenever she came back to work on the franchise, because she could hardly fit into her older outfits.

“When I came back [to High School Musical], I almost couldn’t get my costume on. When I finally got it zipped up, my [breasts] were up to my chin!” she says.

However, it wasn’t until she started work on “Sucker Punch” that she got in the best shape she could be, since she trained with the Navy Seals for the part.

“I knew it was going to be hard but I didn’t know how hard. In the beginning I could dead lift 135 lbs. By the end, I lifted 180 lbs,” she says.

“I was a monster… Exercise is amazing from the inside out. I feel so alive and have more energy,” adds the star.

In the same interview, Vanessa also opens up about on the split from her flame of many years, “High School Musical” co-star Zac Efron, whom she still thinks of as one of the best friends she ever had.

She says that being together while growing up in the spotlight has helped them both remain grounded, which is something that she can’t possibly thank Zac enough for.
