The Teen Choice Awards for 2010 took place last night and, just in case any confirmation was still needed, it showed that the hottest thing this year is vampires. Of the 104 surfboard awards offered during the ceremony in categories ranging from film, television and miscellaneous, 17 went to productions with vampires, E! Online says. The winners were “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Vampire Diaries” and, of course, “True Blood.”

Given that the winners were determined by public voting, it’s no wonder “The Twilight Saga” came out first, which also speaks volumes for the popularity of the franchise. British actor Robert Pattinson, for instance, walked home with no less than 4 surfboards including for Choice Male Movie Star of the Summer (“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”), Choice Liplock and Choice Chemistry, which he shared with his “New Moon” co-star Kristen Stewart. Pattinson was also named Choice Movie Actor, Drama for “Remember Me,” a film that was well received critically even though it didn’t quite kick up a storm at the US box office.

“New Moon was, not surprisingly, the teens’ Choice Movie, Fantasy. […] Team Jacob also spoke up tonight, with Lautner topping Pattinson for Choice Male Actor, Fantasy, for New Moon and grabbing ‘miscellaneous’ surfboards for Choice Male Hottie (the voters obviously mean business, because Megan Fox was Female Hottie), Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon, Male, and Choice Smile,” E! further says. Again, it’s a tie with fans of Team Jacob and Team Edward.

“Still appearing to enjoy her return to the public eye (she was always in our thoughts!), Sandra Bullock was in the house to tote away a surfboard for Choice Movie Actress, Drama, for The Blind Side. The gracious Oscar winner was also Choice Actress in a Romantic Comedy (not to be confused with the plain, old Comedy category) for The Proposal, for which she also shared the Choice Dance award with Betty White. […] Finding a little spot among all the madness to call their own were our very own Kardashian sisters, all three of whom were onhand to accept the surfboard for Choice Female Reality Stars during the untelevised portion of the ceremony. Kim, Kourtney and Khloé were also joined by little sisses Kendal and Kylie Jenner to accept for Choice Reality Series on behalf of Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” E! further informs.

Also in television, “Gossip Girl” took home several awards, including for Choice TV Show Drama, Choice TV Actor Drama, Choice TV Actress Drama and Choice TV Female Scene Stealer (Hilary Duff). In music, the biggest winners were, as expected, Katy Perry (Choice Music Single), Justin Bieber (Choice Music Male Artist, Breakout Artist), Eminem (Choice Music Rap Artist), Beyonce (Choice Music R&B Artist) and Taylor Swift (Choice Music Female Country Artist).
