Valve has decided that Metro: Last Light is the perfect title needed to illustrate how well its SteamOS is capable of running.

The first prototypes of SteamOS and Steam Machines are going to ship to a lucky 300 users, and the flagship game will be Metro: Last Light.

“We are excited by the prospect of bringing the ultimate Metro experience, powered by next-gen PC hardware into the living room. Metro: Last Light will be a great showcase for Steam OS and the Steam Controller,” said Oles Shishkovstov, chief technical officer at 4A Games, the publisher of the game.

The title supports all the available Steam platforms (PC, Linux, and Mac), and it's one of the most hardware-intensive and beautiful games ever released so far on Steam.

Metro: Last Light will be included with the hardware, and we expect the first impression about the new Steam Machine console to be about how this game runs.
