Greg Coomer, a developer at Valve, says that his company is ready to launch a virtual reality focused software development kit in just a few days in order to create a standard interface for studios that plan to use this kind of tech.

He is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “There’s also technology in development at Valve based around head-tracking and headset manufacture and design. We are working with other companies right now but we have not made any specific announcements.”

Over the last year, Valve has become ever more involved in the hardware space and is at the moment working with at least 12 manufacturers to create prototype Steam machines, while also doing internal work on a special haptic controller.

Coomer believes that the company has the means to act as a bridge between game developers and players and that’s why it wants to see long-term standards created and implemented.
