Valve has announced that their Source SDK has been made available to the mod developers on the Linux platform.

The launch of Source SDK has also registered a new practice for Valve. They have posted the source code on GitHub.

“The other change with the Source SDK is that now Hammer and the other mod tools ship with their respective games instead of as part of the SDK Launcher,” reads the official announcement on Valve’s website.

Highlights of Source SDK 2013:

• The games that are supported by the SDK now have support for Linux; • The Steam Pipe (the new Steam content delivery system) is now supported by the sample mods; • Support for Virtual Reality via the Oculus Rift has been added to the SDK.

More details about the Source SDK 2013 can be found in the Valve Developer Community wiki.
