Valve has launched a new stable version for its Steam for Linux client, fixing a few problems that have been left hanging from the previous update.

After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

The previous update has been a very large one, but it seems that a few bugs have seeped through the cracks. Valve has been quick to fix the problems with a small patch.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux update:

• The installers can’t run too many times any longer when launching an app;
• The games are no longer crashing on startup for some users;
• The modal dialogs are no longer occasionally crashing in Big Picture Mode.
