14 DAY TRIAL // Valve has officially confirmed that it’s partnered up with Nexon to launch its upcoming Dota 2 title in South Korea and Japan.
Valve is currently getting ready to debut Dota 2 around the world and, while it’s going to be a free-to-play title through its Steam service, the studio has been looking for a partner with which to release the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game for some time.
Now, the company has confirmed that it’s signed a deal with Korean firm Nexon to publish the game in South Korea and Japan.
“We are very excited about working with Valve to publish Dota 2 and build on the worldwide momentum of the highly successful franchise. We look forward to providing players in Japan and Korea the opportunity to experience this exciting new game,” said Nexon Korea CEO Min Seo, via GamesIndustry.
This is a major win for Valve, as it wants Dota 2 to become a premiere e-sports experience and nowhere is this phenomenon more popular than in Asia, specifically South Korea.
As of yet, however, Dota 2 doesn’t have a concrete release date.
