Chet Faliszek, one of the leaders of developer Valve, has told Eurogamer that Left for Dead might get a new installment at some point in the future, but suggested that the company has not really made a decision about how the series might evolve.

He said, “You know, some time down the road. Like anything, I would say that to all of our games. So that’s not a promise of when or where. I really love working on that series. It’s one of my favourite series. It’s just so much fun with the characters and the world. I love zombies and I love horror. So, yeah.”

Valve is at the moment integrating Left for Dead 2 with the Steam Workshop, which means that gamers will themselves be able to tinker with the game and create new weapons, new areas to play through and even innovative game modes.

At the moment, Valve seems to be more interested in evolving Steam and in hardware development than in actual game creation.
