Valve, the studio behind hit games and the Steam service, has issued an official statement, distancing itself from the Xi3 Piston mini PC and saying that it has no current involvement in the project.

After the Xi3 Corporation revealed its Piston mini PC, many media outlets boasted that the device would be the first Steam Box, seeing as how Xi3 worked together with Valve.

Now, Valve has apparently distanced itself from the whole Xi3 Piston project.

In an update posted by Eurogamer, the website claims that Valve's Doug Lombardi told it that, "Valve began some exploratory work with Xi3 last year, but currently has no involvement in any product of theirs."

Xi3 hasn’t commented on its current deals with Valve, but it boasted about its cooperation with the studio at the beginning of the year when it revealed the Piston mini PC.
