A Valve employee has acknowledged that the owner of the very popular Steam digital distribution service will be offering a summer sale during the coming month and a half of the season, but he has not offered any clear date for its start.

Mike Blaszczak, who is an engineer working at Valve, stated on an official forum thread dealing with the summer sale that this company was “planning a sale sometime this summer.”

The Steam Summer Sale is one of the most interesting periods of the year for bargain hunters, who have been able, during the last few years, to snap up full back catalogs from some publishers for very low prices.

Valve is taking advantage of the rather limited launch slate of the summer season to draw more users to its own service and to make sure that it keeps its core base of fans happy in the long term.
