All the tickets that Valve is offering for the upcoming 2014 edition of the DOTA 2 tournament The International were sold out in one hour after they were offered to gamers on April 4 and it is unclear whether the company has plans to offer any more.

Doug Lombardi, one of the senior developers at the studio, tells Ongamers that, “Tickets were gone roughly one hour after they went on sale.”

Around 10,000 tickets for The International have been offered, including both general admission and VIP packages.

At the moment, a lot of them are offered on eBay for up to five times what they originally cost, which means that even the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena space is not immune from the problem of scalpers.

Valve has not said whether it will ensure that as many tickets as possible end up in the hands of true fans of DOTA 2 or if there are any plans to offer any more for sale at a later date.

The International tournament is designed to show off the best players of the game in the world, with 11 teams invited directly and a set of qualifiers that will take place between May 12 and 25 set to decide the rest of the teams included.
