Valve has updated the Team Fortress 2 FPS multiplayer game and it has pushed a series of gameplay changes and a few improvements.

The Team Fortress 2 title is one of the first IPs from Valve to get a Linux port and it's also one of the most played titles on Steam. Having so many players online puts a lot of pressure on the development team to rapidly fix any issues that might creep up.

Valve releases numerous updates for this game, with most of the changes usually for gameplay balancing purposes, and the latest modifications don't stray from this rather simple recipe.

Don't think that you can outsmart the developers

Players will always try to get any kind of advantage they can and they are very resourceful. It's sometimes possible to play the rules and not the game, but the devs will close any kind of gaps that would allow one player to gain an unfair advantage over another. It doesn't happen very often, but it's still an issue.

According to the changelog, a client crash related to the robot destruction HUD has been fixed, an exploit where players could circumvent successful kick votes has been corrected, Demoman can no longer detonate sticky bombs while taunting, Strange Ranks are no longer displayed on the web (Trade, Steam backpack, Market) and only show “Strange” as a prefix, the default value for convar sv_vote_issue_scramble_teams_cooldown has been increased to 20 minutes, a sound clipping issue for the Demoman's Spent Well Spirits taunt has been fixed, and the Jarate lightwarp preset has been added to the Steam Workshop importer.

Also, the model/materials for the Neckwear Headwear have been updated in order to fix a lighting issue, the amount of time the middle gates remain open before and after a train passes in stage 2 of the pl_cactuscanyon map has been increased, the skybox performance for the rd_asteroid map has been improved, the Scout/Sniper damage against robots has been lowered, and the zebra-style art on static props on systems that used lower texture quality has been improved.

Team Fortress is free-to-play and completely free

The free-to-play term has got a very bad reputation and it usually signals that a game will need more money from you in order to provide a complete experience. Team Fortress is a completely free game and it will never ask you for any money to play it. You can't buy better weapons and items, just various decorative hats, clothing, and the likes that have no impact on the gameplay whatsoever.

More details about the latest Team Fortress 2 update can be found on the official website. Keep in mind that this is a multiplayer game only, it has no single player campaign.
