Square Enix is in a giving mood with Final Fantasy in these last few weeks of this year, but the company has something a little bit more for its fans. In case RPG dungeon crawlers are your thing and you just never got into the Final Fantasy phenomenon, then Square has something special for PAL gamers. After its re-release on the PlayStation Network in August 2009 in Japan, Vagrant Story is coming to another part of the world, leaving only North America out of the loop. The fantastic PSone game was an instant hit back when it was launched in 2000, and won instant acclaim, receiving even one of the mythical-perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu.

The title will enter the PlayStation Store on December 22 and will be priced at a meager €5.99. The Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd., Larry Sparks, said that, “VAGRANT STORY is one of only a handful of games to be honoured with Famitsu's highest possible score and it's a great pleasure to be releasing the game in Europe. For the first time in years VAGRANT STORY will be easily accessible to original fans and new gamers wanting to experience a true classic.”

The main team behind Vagrant Story is the same one that worked on Final Fantasy Tactics and had Yasumi Matsuno as the producer and director. “As the VKP's (Valendia Knights of the Peace) elite Riskbreaker, Ashley Riot, you must pursue a group of cultists into a deserted city of Leá Monde in an attempt to rescue the kidnapped son of a Valendian dignitary.”

“But all is not as it seems, and everything you once believed will soon be called into question as you contend not only with the cultists, but rival political factions, the city's restless fallen, and your own dark memories.” They say precious things come in small packages, but, as a form-less digital product and priced at only €6, this PSN release of Vagrant Story must be one of the biggest deals of the year.
