The Steam Greenlight service has become one of the main ways for smaller titles to gain attention from gamers and one of the more interesting projects currently seeking approval is Vae Victis, a turn-based fantasy experience.

The game is clearly inspired by both the Heroes and the King’s Bounty series and aims to create a complex world that players will be able to explore while also engaging in tactical battles against a variety of creatures.

The team explains that it wants to keep all the game mechanics simple in order to allow for emergent storytelling that is created when the various creatures, abilities and spells interact on the battlefield.

Vae Vitis will offer a hex-based tactics experience, making the positioning of units very important because it affects the ways a battle progresses.

The Artificial Intelligence is also set to be competent in using its own units and can offer a tough challenge for the player.

If approved on Steam, the game is set to arrive on the PC in the second quarter of 2014.
