This weird product can be purchased in Japan, it’s not available in the US

Here’s something interesting you might want to consider for your camera, or not. When having to clean the sensor, most photographers will rely on a blower or a wet cleaner of some sort.

But that’s not how the following accessory we’re going to be talking about does business. Japanese manufacturer Fujin has created a vacuum cleaner which it has embedded into a Canon L lookalike shell.

What the little vacuum is supposed to do is effectively pull the dust off the sensor and out of the camera for good. However, at this point, we can’t actually say whether the technique is really adequate or not.

For the time being, the vacuum is only available for Canon mounts and sells for the affordable price of $34 / €25 in Japan. The gizmo is not yet available in the US and it’s unclear whether international shippings apply.

There is not a whole lot of information to go around, but there are a few basic steps to complete to take advantage of the system. Take the lens, attach it to your DSLR and turn it on. That’s it. The vacuum should start working immediately preventing the formation of any debris clogs.
