Less than a month after VXL announced its new range of thin clients that supported the Citrix HDX technology, the company has released a new series of desktop and notebook solutions which can deliver a full Windows 7 experience thanks to their Microsoft's RemoteFX virtualization support.

The RemoteFX technology is available in the Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 SP1 operating systems and allows thin clients to run graphics intensive tasks on a remote server.

Such a setup looks nearly identical to a Windows 7 local desktop, as the technology supports 3D applications (even games) and portable graphics content such as Microsoft Silverlight and Windows Aero.

Moving back to VXL's thin clients, RemoteFX is available in the VXL 15 series (TC1527), C/Cs Series (C24/C24s), Ds Series (D24s), Es Series (E24s) and 63 series (TC6324) solutions as well as in select VXL-Lenovo co-branded notebooks.

These include the 11.6-inch TL-120-24 and the 14.1-inch TL-412-24 machines which packs three USB 2.0 ports, as well as WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.

The desktop systems are based on various hardware configurations, but they all support a large number of USB ports and use compact form factors.

“The release of Microsoft RemoteFX will dramatically change the virtual computing landscape. Users will now be able to fully realise the enhanced user experience of our Windows 7 thin clients for a fantastic multi-media experience over the network,” said Frank Noon, VXL’s vice president of Worldwide sales.

“By developing our thin client desktop and notebook line-up in this way, we’re pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to enhance hardware performance, ensure low cost of ownership and deliver added-value, user-friendly solutions,” concludes Noon.

All the RemoteFX compatible desktops and notebooks are available right now for purchase from the company's website.
