An updated flavor of the VUDU Movies and TV application is now available for download for Android devices, expanding support for smartphones running under Google’s mobile operating system, after being available only on tablet PCs until now.

Following the update, Android phone users will be able to watch favorite movies and TV shows on their devices, having the option to browse, rent, and watch directly from VUDU.

At the moment, however, the mobile application is available only for a small number of handsets running under Android, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, and Galaxy S II HD smartphones.

Furthermore, the software was packed with support for the Google Nexus 4, HTC One, HTC EVO 4G LTE, and DROID DNA by HTC, as well as for the LG Optimus G, LG Optimus G Pro, LG Optimus F7, and the Motorola RAZR HD.

Support for these devices was added to version 1.4.229 of the mobile application, which is available for download now with a series of bug fixes inside as well.

Some of the main features of the VUDU Movies and TV mobile software for Android include:

- The hottest new movie and TV releases – watch some titles before they’re available on DVD and Blu-ray discs and catch up on your favorite TV shows.

- Stream directly to your Android device, or download to watch anywhere, anytime. Rent or Own. No Subscription or Late Fees.

- Enjoy access to your UltraViolet Digital Collection.

- VUDU’s In-Home Disc to Digital service lets you easily convert your DVD and Blu-ray collection to digital and stream from the cloud to your device.

The VUDU Movies and TV app comes with support for smartphones and tablet PCs that are running under Android 4.0 and up. The mobile client can be found on Softpedia as well, via this link.
