Ashley Biden, the daughter of Vice President Joe Biden, is now caught in one of the biggest drug scandals of the past years, after a tape showing a woman closely resembling her doing a line of cocaine surfaced in the media. The lawyer who tried to broker the deal with the New York Post has since backed out of everything, but he stands by his client’s story that the woman on tape is really the 27-year-old Ashley.

According to the New York Post, the DC lawyer came to it with the offer of selling a compromising tape of the VP’s daughter, Ashley. He even had a 90-second preview of the tape with him, which he gladly showed, and then asked for $2 million in exchange for the entire footage. The lawyer later went down with the asking price to a mere $400,000 but, either way, the newspaper refused to make the purchase when it learned that it had been shot with a hidden camera and countless legal complications could stem from it.

“The video... shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder. She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room.” The Post writes, noting that the woman bears a striking resemblance to Ashley.

At the moment, according to the same publication, several other media outlets, both in the US and in the UK, have been offered the tape, with promises that the man selling it would also sell his story of the drug-fueled occasion on which it was shot to the highest bidder. In fact, the Post points out, the higher the bidder, the more revealing the story, which might also include details about other similar parties where Mrs. Biden was a guest.

However, several other media outlets are pointing out, the biggest issue here is the fact that the footage was shot without the consent of the person who appears on it. The low angle, as well as the woman’s actions, seems to make it clear that she was not aware of being filmed, despite the attorney’s claim that, later on, she even acknowledges the camera by waving at it. Because of this impediment, it could just happen that the footage in question never sees daylight, it has been noted.

Calls to VP Joe Biden or Ashley have not yet been returned. Stay tuned here for updates on this one.
