14 DAY TRIAL // Beyonce turned the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 into the Beyonce Awards 2014 on Sunday night, with her amazing performance and heartbreakingly adorable moment at the end, when Jay Z and Blue Ivy walked up on stage to hand her the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.
Tears were shed, kisses and loving words were exchanged, feelings were felt. It was one of the most talked about moments of the night, mostly because many saw it as the perfect way for Beyonce to tell all the haters off and to rubbish the rumors about her impending divorce, which had been making the rounds for months.
In other words, instead of issuing a statement like most celebrities tend to do, to deny there was any truth to the tabloid reports, Beyonce made sure to include her husband and her daughter in her special moment, and thus show the world what a perfect – and perfectly happy – family they are.
Word online has it that the entire thing was a PR move for damage control and that things between Bey and Jay are bad, but not yet bad enough as to force them to acknowledge it in public.
Whether that’s true or not we can’t know for now, but here’s another thing that also happened at the VMAs 2014 and people almost didn’t notice: Solange Knowles, Beyonce’s sister, was also there. In her bid to paint her family as a happy one, Beyonce might have asked her to show up as well.

Meanwhile, Beyonce too walked the red carpet alone because Jay Z arrived later. Can you guess when he came in and took his seat in the audience? That’s right, Jay arrived minutes before his wife’s number and was seated next to Kelly Rowland, which means that somebody went to great lengths to avoid having him and Solange cross paths.
In May this year, when the divorce rumors went completely out of control, a video leaked, from a surveillance camera in an elevator at one of the fancy hotels where a MET Gala afterparty was being held.
The footage showed Beyonce, Jay Z, Solange and their entourage walk in, and Solange unleashing hell upon her brother-in-law, whom she kicked, punched and even hit with her clutch, until she was restrained by security. Beyonce just stood there, looking at her, as Jay did his best to make her calm down.
It is said that Solange had found out that Jay had been cheating on her sister, and lost her cool and confronted him. Beyonce addressed the scandal saying that every family has problems, and hinting that they’d been dealt with.
Clearly, things aren’t back to normal yet, seeing how Solange and Jay Z aren’t even on speaking terms anymore, from what we can tell. Well, at least the VMAs provided us with a very rare and adorable moment like this one.
