Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and British singer Rita Ora took over The Forum on Sunday, at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014, to perform their most recent collaboration, “Black Widow.” According to Rita, their little number could have been even more eye-popping than it was.

You can see the performance in full and in HD in the video below, courtesy of MTV.

Both singers wore black, sparkly leotards with cutouts shaped like spider webs, and were accompanied on stage by a troupe of ballerinas, as well as their regular backup dancers. Reports have it that they were initially thinking of recreating the single’s official video on stage, but changed their minds fearing backlash.

The original music video is a “Kill Bill” copycat, with Rita and Iggy playing sword-wielding assassins who go after the bad guy played by Michael Madsen, one of the leads in the Tarantino film series.

Another thing that almost happened was Iggy and Rita locking lips, as the latter admits in an interview cited by the Daily Mail.

“I said to Iggy we should make out on stage and kiss during our performance. However, she told me that would be crazy because that's already been done,” Rita reveals, adding that, “Britney Spears and Madonna kissing was my favorite VMA performance ever.”

I assume they also ditched the plan when they decided to not stage the elaborate idea from the video, because a kiss would have simply made no sense in what they were left to work with.
