14 DAY TRIAL // Nicki Minaj is not at all shy by nature, but at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards 2014, airing live from The Forum in Inglewood, California, she came dangerously close to showing it all on stage, when she least thought she would.
Nicki and Ariana Grande and Jessie J kicked off the show with a medley of their most recent hits, with the number ending with all three together, singing along to Jessie’s “Bang Bang.” In between “Anaconda” and “Bang Bang,” Nicki had only a few moments to change from one costume to another, and in this particular case, the hurry did her no favors.
As you can see in the video below, Nick changed out of the glittery green two-piece she had on for “Anaconda” into a little black dress with a zipper in the front and a sheer panel on the back. The zipper broke, I gather, because she ended up holding both sides of the dress tightly to her body, so as to avoid it coming apart on stage, in full view of everyone.
Given Minaj’s ample curves, this proved quite a challenge.
“We ran out of time to get the dress zipped up,” the rapper told the media of the malfunction. I stand by my theory that the zipper broke because, otherwise, she could have just zipped it up herself, whilst walking towards the main stage.
Either way, she handled it well, even if she could barely move for fear she might spill out of dress. Enjoy!
