Miley Cyrus has outdone herself yet again at this year's VMAs, but many felt that this year's appearance makes up for her scandalous twerking from last year. This time, Miley brought in a homeless youth as a date and had him accept her award on her behalf, while giving an emotional speech on stage.

Today, it has emerged that Jesse Helt, the 22-year-old that got to accompany Miley to the VMAs, is an out-of-work model who is in trouble with the police back at home, in Salem, Oregon. The Telegraph explains that Helt is wanted by police for parole violation.

On Sunday, Helt became an overnight celebrity for millions watching the popular award show on TV, but in hindsight, it might not have been the best idea to go on national television when there's a warrant out for your arrest.

Helt appeared on stage to accept Miley's award and gave a short speech about homeless people, “Though I may have been invisible to you in the streets, I have many of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.”

As the cameras panned back to Miley, the singer wiped away tears from her eyes. She later admitted that her intention was to raise awareness about homeless people in America, which is why she chose to bring Jesse as a date to the VMAs.

As chance would have it, she chose a very good-looking homeless person, since it has emerged that Jesse is an out-of-work model, who moved away from his home state of Oregon to Los Angeles to become a model.

The police have revealed that there has been an arrest warrant issued on Helt's name for probation violation. The media went to his mother's house and she told them that her son had flown back to Oregon after Miley gave him some money for a plane ticket. She also mentioned that he was not at home at the time.

The police did come knocking on his mother's door looking for the young man, because of the arrest warrant issued in November 2011 when Felt failed to show up for a report to his probation officer. He was on probation for an arrest for criminal trespass.

Helt was first arrested on October 2010 for breaking into an apartment. He later told police that he wanted to confront the person renting out that apartment for selling him bad marijuana. He later pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and criminal mischief and spent three weeks in jail. He was subsequently released on probation.
