14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian likes to be at the center of attention at all times, because, let us not forget this, this is how she makes her living. Last night at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014, which she attended with her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, she made sure all eyes were on her.
The curvaceous reality star has been experimenting with her fashion choices a lot in recent weeks, most likely because rapper and fashionista extraordinaire Kanye West, her husband, is pushing her to dress like the “icon” she is.
Sometimes, this pays off, but most of the times it doesn’t. To Kim, dressing seductively means either flashing her cleavage or showing off her ample backside in a very obvious manner. Case in point, her Balmain beaded mini dress at the VMAs 2014 last night.
The problem with Kim isn’t that she hasn’t access to the best designer outfits (duh!) or even that she doesn’t have taste in fashion: the problem is that she wrongfully assumes that, just because she has access to certain clothes, she should make an effort to wear them.
Take for instance this dress: it would have looked better on someone taller and slimmer – not that Kim is “fat,” don’t get us wrong. A cleavage this low cut usually looks best on women with smaller breasts, someone like Kim’s model sister Kendall.
Instead, Kim should have worn something in the style of Kylie’s dress, because that’s a cut that flatters her figure. Let’s not beat about the bush anymore: this dress, though amazing in theory, does Kim no favors, making her appear heavier and smaller than she actually is.
That was even more apparent during the awards gala, whenever she lifted her arm. Check out the video below, of Kim introducing her “good friend” Sam Smith to perform “Stay with Me,” to see how stumpy she appears when she lifts her arm to wave at the fans screaming her name.
We’ll say something nice though: Kim looks much better with messy bed hair than she does with the slicked back ‘do she’d been favoring so much lately. The makeup is good too, albeit a bit on the heavy side, and her shoes are amazing.
Meanwhile, the Jenner girls opted for the all-black outfits, because black never goes out of fashion: Kendall wore high-waisted pants and a sheer top, while Kylie wrapped herself in a silk gown with a thigh-high slit. As you can see in the gallery below, the 3 of them went out of their way not to smile for the camera. Pouting is the future.
