Here’s another great reason to tune in for the MTV Video Music Awards 2014, which will take place on August 24, 2014, at The Forum in Inglewood, California: Beyonce will be there. Not only will she be on hand to be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, but she will also perform, MTV informs.

No word yet on the song, but whatever it turns out to be, you can bet it’s going to be an explosive little number. Few of her previous appearances at awards galas of this type could be described as underwhelming in any regard, so she has no reason to start disappointing now.

Previous recipients of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award include Michael Jackson himself, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Beastie Boys, Justin Timberlake, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Britney Spears, and R.E.M. Beyonce will be in very select company from now on.

However, she might still walk home with more awards than just this one: the diva is up for no less than 8 Moonmen, more than any other nominated artist or band.

“Pretty Hurts,” that touching video about how real beauty comes from inside, is up for Best Editing, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Video with a Social Message. “Drunk in Love” ft. Jay Z is nominated for Video of the Year and Best Collaboration, while “Partition” is up for Best Choreography and Best Female Video.

Below is the MTV video announcement of Beyonce’s performance. Other acts that will take the stage to entertain viewers at home and members of the audience will be Usher, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, and 5 Seconds of Summer.
