No word yet whether the rapper will be featuring the snake on tomorrow’s show

On Sunday, MTV will honor the most outstanding music videos of the year with the 2014 edition of the Video Music Awards. Several major acts are expected to take to the stage to perform, including Beyonce and Nicki Minaj, the latter being apparently set on featuring a live snake in her routine.

As you might have heard because of the controversy it generated, Nicki has a new video and single out, called “Anaconda.” I described the video upon release as a 4+-minute ode to “phat” bums because that’s basically all that it shows. The “anaconda” is a euphemism, as you probably gathered.

Euphemism or not, Nicki wanted one on stage with her at the gala but, considering the most recent events, chances are she won’t get to see her wish come true. TMZ reports that the anaconda bit a backup dancer during rehearsals for the show.

“A female dancer was bit by the reptile in front of everyone. We're told the dancer has just been taken to the hospital where she's being treated. Anacondas are non-venomous snakes but often transmit bacteria that can lead to serious infections,” the celebrity publication reports.

The snake was removed and wasn’t brought back during the rehearsals. This could mean that Nicki and her people would deem it too risky a move to feature it in the show, but with these things, you never really know.

Either way, with the video in mind, it’s probably safe to expect a lot of twerking, both from Nicki and her dancers. The “Anaconda” clip is available on Nicki Minaj’s YouTube channel, but *please note that discretion is heavily recommended because it contains images and language that will offend.
