For years, fans have been hoping for an ‘NSYNC reunion but it never came to happen. This year’s MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on Sunday, will finally make all those reunion dreams come true.

However… don’t hold your breath for more than a one-time performance.

As I noted the other day, several MTV insiders are saying that Justin Timberlake will be joined on stage by his former ‘NSYNC mates for a one-time gig, in what is probably one of the worst kept secrets of the year.

EW writes that the reunion will most probably take place as rumored, but cautions fans not to get ahead of themselves and actually think more of the same will follow.

Which makes perfect sense, if you think about it.

“It seemed like an NSYNC reunion was an impossibility, mostly because Timberlake was doing just fine on his own, thank you very much,” EW says.

“It’s doubtful that this will lead to any extended work together (Timberlake has two movies to promote, plus an arena tour supporting the entirety of The 20/20 Experience), but it’ll provide some satisfying closure in the great boy-band comeback of 2013 that has included Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, and 98 Degrees,” the report adds.

Still, as the say, every bit counts, right?
