Lady Gaga opened the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 and Katy Perry closed it, with a performance that was described as “the main event” because it was Rocky-inspired.

You can see it in full below.

Just like with Gaga, this was also the first time that Katy performed her new single live. However, unlike Mother Monster, she left the theater and brought her music to the streets, with a special performance under the Brooklyn Bridge.

There is no doubt that “Roar” is an incredibly catchy and motivational tune, and Katy certainly did her best to put on an impeccable show.

I particularly liked the boxing / Rocky-inspired choreography and the fact that she’s so good at jumping rope.

Fans in the audience outside seemed thrilled so let me ask you: did you like Katy’s performance? Watch the video and let me know in the comments section below.
