“It’s a bit desperate,” she doesn’t need to do that, actress says on The Today Show

Brooke Shields, who played Hannah Montana’s mother on the Disney series, is one of the many celebrities speaking up after Miley Cyrus’ VMAs 2013 performance to let her know that she doesn’t need to sink this low to get their attention.

As reported earlier, Miley performed with Robin Thicke Sunday night, during the MTV awards gala, raising more than one eyebrow with her lewd gestures and inappropriate outfit.

All jokes aside, Brooke thinks she should get better management at this point in her life because she’s clearly a very talented young lady who’s just misguided.

“I just want to know who's advising her, and why this is necessary.... [Our children] can't watch that.... I feel like it's a bit desperate,” Shields says, as the video below will confirm.

She believes Miley is trying to top Gaga in terms of shock factor but, in so doing, she’s missing the essential part: “[Gaga has] a genius behind all of it; it's not just display.”

Brooke’s advice for Miley: just sing and perform like a regular 20-year-old, you don’t need to shock the world into paying attention to you.
