Rihanna did not win as many awards at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards 2012 as she used to in previous years, but that’s not to say she went home empty-handed. Far from it, actually.

The pop star, rocking a new, very short dark ‘do, won the Moonman for Best Video of the Year for “We Found Love.”

That is to say, fans voted for the same video that got so many critics and industry insiders hot under the collar for allegedly “glorifying” domestic violence and drug use.

Watch the video below to see her accepting her award. Say what you will about her, but this is one artist who knows how to work a crowd.

In winning Best Video of the Year, Rihanna beat good friend Katy Perry (who was in the running with “Wide Awake”) and even herself, as she got another nomination for her collaboration with Drake, “Take Care.”
