14 DAY TRIAL // Beyonce and husband of 3 years Jay-Z are expecting their first child together. At Sunday’s Video Music Awards 2011 ceremony, the singer dropped the bomb on unsuspecting fans – and conspiracy theories are already making the rounds.
Before taking to the stage for an energetic live performance “Love on Top,” Beyonce walked the red carpet in a Lanvin gown that could have helped her hide her baby bump if she so desired.
She, however, chose to show it off. She did the same after her performance, when she unbuttoned her jacket and, beaming, she rubbed her tummy while Jay-Z laughed and clapped his hands in the crowd, as the video below will confirm.
Us Weekly says that Beyonce is about 3 months along and that she only chose the VMAs to let the world know because she was too happy to keep the news to herself anymore.
However, word online has it that she wore a fake baby bump for the awards show, because she couldn’t have possibly got so big in just days.
“Beyonce made sure she was going to upstage every celebrity at the awards show even before the show began, by announcing her pregnancy – a pregnancy that no one saw coming even though she has not left the public eye in months,” SandraRose writes.
“I find it necessary to remind my readers that Beyonce was just onstage 10 days ago in New York with NO visible baby bump!” the same celebrity e-zine adds.
Indeed, photos of Beyonce live in concert do not show her with a baby bump so, at first glance, the theory would make sense.
“Now all of a sudden – 10 days later – she shows up at the VMAs with a swollen belly looking like she’s 6 months pregnant?” the e-zine asks.
Of course, that’s not to say that Beyonce wore a fake baby bump for the MTV awards, others point out. Beyonce is known for using Spanx to make problem areas look good onstage in her trademark skintight and minuscule outfits, a thing she owned up to herself a few times.
That she performed 10 days ago and didn’t have a bump could mean that she just took extra care to hide it from prying eyes, until she and Jay were ready to make the announcement themselves.
