VLC for Windows 8 Still Needs Funds
The company needs more donations in order to port the app on Windows 8
We’ve already told you that VideoLAN needs money to port its famous VLC media player to Windows 8, but with 11 days to go until the fundraising comes to an end, the company is still short of £23,000 (€28,000 / $37,000).VLC for Windows 8 will be compatible with both the desktop version of the operating system and the tablet iteration called Windows RT and will offer support for most multimedia formats on the market.
“In contrast to the built-in media player, VLC for Windows 8 we intend to add support for DVDs and VCDs out-of-the box as well as unencrypted Blu-Rays. All the features known from our current releases will be retained like a full-fledged equalizer, video filters and superior support for subtitles,” VLC for Windows 8 developers said.
Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s supporting the project, but only with hardware, technical and design help, so the funds are still needed in order to see VLC going live on Windows 8 devices.
