Although it’s still in beta, VLC media player for Android devices has more than 1 million downloads on Google Play store.

VLC Mobile Team continues to work on the application and have just announced a new beta version is now available for download.

This would be the sixth beta for VLC and, according to devs, it’s a bugfix release above 0.0.5. It fixes audio glitches, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean hardware decoding and rediuces CPU and RAM usages in the UI.

In addition, the latest update improves the UI even further and brings a tablet-freely mode, along with several stability and speed improvements. Some fixes for crashes and issues that were reported by users have been added as well.

VLC for Android Beta 0.0.6 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up. Check it out here.
