A new flavor of the VLC for Android Beta application is now available for download, namely version 0.9.7, which brings along a series of enhancements and compatibility fixes.

To be more precise, the new application iteration was pushed out with better DVD menus when compared to the previous flavor, as well as with a series of fixes for various UI crashes.

On top of that, the new VLC for Android Beta 0.9.7 brings along compatibility with the Android L OS version that was made official a couple of weeks back, and which will arrive on devices sometime this fall.

“VLC for Android 0.9.7 is released! It improves DVD menus, compatibility with Android L, fixes a UI crashes and updates the translations,” the team has announced in a recent tweet.

For those out of the loop, we should note that this is the eighth pre-release of VLC for Android, and that a final version is expected to become available sooner rather than later.

The mobile application is available for download with support for all devices running under 2.1 and up, but also offers a series of features exclusive to Android 4.3 and up handsets and tablets, such as hardware acceleration enabled by default.

Those of you interested in grabbing VLC for Android Beta should head over to the Google Play store for that. Last week, the application went available in the app portal in the US and Canada too.
