VideoLAN Media Player, or simply VLC, a software designed to run all kinds of media files ranging from simple DVDs to video, audio files, and even online streams, is now at version 2.1.1, but only for Ubuntu users. The developers of VLC have released a new version of their media player in order to add some new features and to fix a few bugs.
This new version of VLC, 2.1.1, is just a maintenance release for the 2.1.x branch and it's only available in the official PPA, for Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander). As you already probably know, this distribution hasn't been launched yet, but it will be here on October 17.
There is no official word on the changes, but some of them can be checked in the GIT archives. You can also download the previous version of VLC, 2.1.1, from Softpedia.
