VideoLAN is getting close to releasing VLC 2.0.8, as the development team uploaded the new version on their servers. The list of changes is also available and all that’s missing is the official announcement.

VLC 2.0.8 incorporates several fixes and improvements. The developer addressed the crash problem in QTsound and the one with invalid memcpy in MMS access.

Security-wise, a use-after-free error detected in “sgimb” has been removed, and checking and resistance against malformed MKV files has been improved.

Starting this build, a stability issue with the libavcodec module should no longer give trouble to users.

On Mac, the repairs address a crash of the interface and problems with the autostart playback option. The full list of changes is available here.

VLC 2.0.8 has yet to be announced officially by VideoLAN. Until then, problems and issues might still occur.
