Other companies will join in on the fun, reducing the quasy-monopoly

Right now, Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony, and Panasonic are the main providers of ultra high-definition television sets.

There are some others, but these are the main ones, or at least the best known.

Others are coming though. Not immediately perhaps, but they are coming all the same. According to a new report, Vizio is one company that will launch a UHD TV at some point in the first quarter of next year, 2014.

A whole series will be launched actually, in 50 to 84-inch diagonals. In fact, the 84-inch one may come out before this year is out.

Meanwhile, AUO is preparing its own line of UHD televisions, also in 50-inch and above dimensions. The 84-inch unit will be made by LG though, just like some of Vizio's panels will come from Foxconn.

It's all a sophisticated network of supply and demand. Suffice to say, new UHD TVs are coming, so brace yourselves.
