Although this is not exactly the best possible period for consumer electronics, it seems that the sales of HDTV sets are still pretty strong, as people tend to shift their entertainment-related habits towards their own homes, preferring to play a video game or view a rented movie on DVD rather than spend a lot of money on a night out in the city, at the movies. For this reason, the most important HDTV manufacturers are trying to come up with new products that will fit both the needs and budgets of most consumers during this....well, let's face it, recession period, and the latest in the bunch is VIZIO, which has just introduced four new LCD models that provide some pretty interesting features and are also quite attractively priced.

Vizio's latest announcement can be divided into two different parts. The first two new models announced by the company are the 37-inch VOJ370F and the 32-inch VOJ320F, which are also the first of the exclusive décor-colored "Java" product line with colored bezel and stand treatments. The two devices provide a very attractive set of features, including PIP/POP viewing, 1920 x 1080 pixel native resolution, 6500:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 6.5ms response time, a 178-degree viewing angle and a brightness level of 500 cd/m2.

Besides these two completely new models, the company has also announced the 37-inch VO37LF and the 32-inch VO32LF, which represent updates to the VO line, and which provide pretty much the same features as the other two mentioned earlier, but do not support PIP/POP viewing.

According to the company, all of the four new products provide three HDMI v1.3 inputs, two on the rear panel and a third one on the HD Game port located on the side of the set, which has been designed in order to provide quick connections for external devices with HDMI outputs, such as game consoles and HD camcorders.

However, the new sets don't rely on HDMI alone for connectivity, since they also incorporate several analog video inputs, such as component video, VGA, composite video and S-Video. Additionally, each HDTV has also been equipped with a standard/HDTV/QAM combination tuner, as well as with SRS Lab's TruSurround XT technology, which helps the two built-in 12-watt speakers create the "illusion" of surround sound.

As mentioned earlier, the four new sets from Vizio have some pretty attractive price points, since they'll retail for around 650 US dollars (the 32-inch versions) or 850 US dollars (the 37-inch models), when they arrive in stores towards the end of October.
