Chipset and x86 CPU manufacturer VIA announced that it will participate in the embedded World Exhibition and Conference and will showcase its x86 technology aimed at the embedded platforms. VIA's products
are power-efficient, ultra compact and feature a high level of integration, which makes them the perfect x86 solution for the embedded environments.

The company will demonstrate its miniaturized and power-efficient platforms, including the 500MHz VIA Eden ULV processor (also known as "the 1-watt processor"), VIA's compact platforms such as the extremely appreciated VIA EPIA PX Pico-ITX board (with a miniature surface of 10 centimeter x 7.2 centimeter), as well as the VIA EPIA NR Nano-ITX board with native support for dual-display setups.

"We are proud to be in a position of leadership in bringing the industry standard x86 platform to the embedded sector" said Daniel Wu, Vice President, VIA Embedded Platform Division, VIA Technologies, Inc. "Embedded World 2008 is an excellent opportunity to show embedded system developers the remarkable advances that VIA has achieved in terms of miniaturization and power-efficiency to ensure the continued development and adoption of x86 computing in the embedded industry."

The company will also showcase the new VIA NAB 7500 industrial grade network appliance board, which is the last product to have joined VIA's segment specific board range. Moreover, the company will demonstrate its complete system solutions, such as the VIA vm7700, industry's first ultra-slim mountable PC system to come with a thru-chassis VESA mounting design.

VIA will also demonstrate during the World Exhibition and Conference its VIA Iceman computer, a weather-resistant device designed from ground up for harsh environments. The Iceman is dust-, rain- and splash-proof and can be used in both indoor and outdoor locations. The computer comes with integrated hardware MPEG-2 decoding acceleration and can be used for outdoor digital signage as well as for industrial computing applications.
