VIA has released a brand new firmware for the VL811 hub controller, which brings a handful of fixes, as well as a consolidated firmware code.

For starters, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 issues have been resolved. The firmware code has been optimized and consolidated, so it can offer stability for the USB hub controller as well as the highest transfer rates for users.

The VL811 chipset is a SuperSpeed Hub Controller that enables four USB 3.0 ports which allow maximum data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps, or ten times the speed available to USB 2.0 based devices.

This new 0.983 firmware release will resolve (if you upgrade) USB 3.0 issues like hub waking up during transition to system power state S4 (hibernation state), and devices dropping from Apple Host during S3 or S4 sleeping state, or when they are connected to native Intel as well as AMD hosts.

As noted above, the USB 2.0 issue is also resolved: it concerned devices dropping from Apple USB Host during upstream port PnP and Adapter PnP.

So, if you're considering updating your firmware version, follow the link below.
