Another alternative to Atom-based systems

The netbook market continues to grow, helping the industry recover from the great drop in consumer demand for personal computer systems, also giving a couple of smaller companies the chance to make a stand. Thanks to these small-sized, ultra-portable and low-power computer systems, companies like the Taiwan-based Kinpo Electronics have a chance at boosting their revenues. On that note, the aforementioned manufacturer has recently released a new 11.6-inch netbook, dubbed Kinpo N03, which packs a VIA Nano-based platform.

Coming to provide users with an alternative to the increasingly popular Intel Atom-based netbooks, the new Kinpo N03 is equipped with one of VIA's latest CPUs, a Nano processor featuring a core speed of 1.2 or 1.3GHz. In addition, the small-sized system can be featured with up to 2GB of RAM, also providing users with a choice for a traditional hard disk drive or a faster Flash-based SSD. Featuring an 11.6-inch display that can deliver a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, the new netbook is also featured with a 1.3MP camera and a battery pack that will be good for about three hours of life.

Unfortunately for those who were looking for a VIA Nano-powered alternative to the Intel Atom netbooks on the market, the Kinpo N03 will be available only on the Chinese market. Apparently, users in the country will be provided with a mini laptop that will also pack WiMAX, EVDO, WiFi support for TD-SCDMA, China's version of the 3G network.

The netbook is expected to arrive with a Windows XP operating system, providing users with one of the most popular operating systems on the planet. Unfortunately, we have no details on pricing, but the system could become available with a network contract, given its supported connectivity features.
