VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading developer of power efficient x86 processor platforms, recently unveiled the new Aristo Pico 840 mini-note, the latest addition to the Aristo Pico Series, which is based on the ultra low power VIA C7-M processor platform. The Aristo Pico 840 has been designed to fulfill the needs of professionals on the go and digital travelers looking for on-line entertainment while on the move. The notebook is A4 in size, features crisp 8.9 inch 1024×600 screen and weighs just over 1kg, being the perfect companion for any kind of journey.

The notebook comes with several unique features including a simultaneous dual screen operation (DualView) which became reality through the use of the powerful VIA VX800 all-in-one digital media IGP chipset. As it allows for the use of a second monitor, the Aristo Pico 840 can be turned from a handy mobile device into a fully functional work computer.

The machine features standard USB 2.0 ports and multimedia card reader for digital cameras or MP3 players, while including an ExpressCard 34 connector, which is rather uncommon for such a small computer. Users can expand the functionality of their device through the use of the Express Card 34 connector by adding a TV tuner or UMTS/HSDP modem. It also sports built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which provide fully wireless communication between the computer and many office peripherals.

“VIA is proud to be working, once again, with Comes, SA on the introduction of the new Aristo Pico 840, the latest model in the highly successful Aristo Pico series of mini-notes being distributed in Poland,” said Tim Brown, International Marketing Manager, VIA Technologes, Inc. “These days, customers care more about features and low power consumption and VIA’s ultra mobile platforms assure end-users of the perfect balance of low power and high performance.”

“The Aristo Pico 840 extends our line of Pico netbooks designed for customers who value high mobility and the freedom to work from any place. We hope to continue our cooperation with VIA - our trusted partner - in introducing state-of-the-art technological solutions in Europe,” said Grzegorz Haladus, spokesperson for Comes S.A.

The Aristo Pico 840 comes with power saving ultra-mobility features. It is based on the 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor and VIA VX800 chipset, and needs only 3.5W for operations, while only using 0.1W in idle mode. It can extend the battery life up to five hours. The unit packs 1GB RAM and 60GB HDD, supports either Microsoft Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu 8.04 and includes a convenient touchpad besides the traditionally sized keyboard.
