The son of singer Usher stared death in the face and survived. Five-year-old Raymond V almost drowned in the pool and needed CPR.

"The Voice" coach's son was playing in a residential pool on Monday, August 5, when he dropped a toy inside. He was being watched by his aunt at the time, TMZ reports.

The toy had gotten stuck in the drain and he dived in the pool to recover it. His arm got caught in the same drain and he couldn't get it out.

The boy's aunt jumped after him, but she couldn't free the boy. A maid then jumped in the water in an effort to save him, but she was also unsuccessful.

She called for help and she was heard by two audio-visual contractors who managed to get Raymond V out.

The boy had to be resuscitated, but one of the men knew CPR and was able to assist him. An ambulance was called to the scene and he was transported to a hospital.

He was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit, where his father came to visit him. According to the police report, Usher rushed to the hospital. However, sources next to the singer insisted that he was on the ambulance with him.

Usher and ex-wife Tameka Raymond are currently by Raymond V's side as doctors attend to him.

He is in stable condition and, by the time he arrived at the clinic, he was “conscious, alert and breathing.” Tests are still underway to determine his status and release him.

As we wrote last year, Usher's stepson and Tameka's oldest died after a jet ski accident on Lake Lanier.

“According to our sources, Glover was sitting in an inner tube on Lake Lanier when he was hit in the head. We're told Glover was unresponsive when he was taken out of the water,” reports said at the time.
