Initial reports had it that R&B star Usher was having an affair with a female staffer from Island Deff Jam. Days later, it emerged that he had filed divorce papers from wife of two years Tameka Foster, only to have other reports say that, in fact, the two had been separated for nearly a year before the filing. Now, the singer is finally speaking out on the much-controversial subject in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Given yesterday’s news that Usher had asked Tameka to provide the court with detailed documentation of all her expenses for the two years she was his legal wife (on paper, that is, since they were together only for 11 months), many believed the singer’s interview would be about talking trash about his former wife. As it turns out, it is completely the opposite since, always the gentleman, Usher prefers to talk about how hard the proceedings can be on anyone and of the joys of being a father to two young boys.

When asked about whether people who think he’s “in a good place” despite the divorce are wrong to assume that or not, Usher is straight to the point. “I’d hate for them to assume that. If there’s any turmoil I think it’s managing all of it, but having an incredible team that helps me do that it makes it very easy, or easier than it would normally be attempting to do it myself.” the singer says of how he manages to keep everything in his life going smoothly with the madness that divorce usually entails.

Luckily for him, he has his two boys to focus on, and it’s between them and hard work that he’s dividing his time. “What I do is, I try to get [my work] done and get home on the weekends if possible... but when I’m with my boys it’s just all about them.” Usher explains. The “be at home on weekends” part has to do with Usher currently residing in Las Vegas, where he’s working hard to get his upcoming album out. Expected to come out later this year, this studio material will be every inch as personal as anything Usher has ever put out. “Every bit of music that I’ve ever made is either from a personal place or has been lived out.” he tells ET of the album.

As we also informed you a while back, word has it that the first hearing in the Usher – Tameka Foster divorce will take place on July 15. Until then, Tameka too is believed to issue some sort of statement, so make sure you keep an eye on this space for it.
