This past Thursday, Usher paid a whopping $12,000 (€9,278) for a puppy auctioned off at a charity event in New York.

Most people would argue that, when it comes to getting a new pet, the best thing to do is adopt one.

However, the fact that the money this celebrity spent on his new pooch will go straight to building schools in Laos, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Ghana is bound to silence them to a certain extent.

In case anyone was wondering, it seems that Usher's new pet is a female goldendoodle whose name might end up being Poppy.

“It took me 2 years but I outbid everyone this year to bring Poppy home,” Usher tweeted.

The green-oriented organization which is to benefit from these funds is called Pencils of Promise, and its working agenda mainly revolves around providing children from various parts of the world with access to quality education.
