With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, cybercriminals and scammers have started showing their romantic side. Experts from Trend Micro provide some examples of the spam emails and shady websites making the rounds these days.

Spam campaigns advertising Valentine’s Day gifts, particularly luxury replicas, flowers, and special events have been seen landing in inboxes. Those who send out the emails hope to lure recipients to rogue pharmacy websites, survey scams, and even malware.

During this time of year, it’s particularly important to remember that if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Avoid clicking on links or attachments that come in unsolicited emails.

Furthermore, be careful about the apps you install on your mobile phone. Security researchers from Bitdefender have identified a number of Valentine’s Day-themed applications that violate users’ privacy, steal data or inflate phone bills.
